| Miami,Florida (Sun Life Stadium) Matthew Bailey Press Conference: Transcript
Owner Matthew Bailey gave his season ending press conference to the media today after players cleaned their lockers out from the team's facility. It wasn't covered live but we obtained the transcript to share with everyone.
Matthew Bailey- Good evening all,I'm here to take questions on the Dolphins season and season awaiting us.
Reporters- How disappointed are you about being eliminated on the final week for the second straight season?
To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. We started and finished strong going 4-1 in both cases but things fell apart during the middle stretch.
Your team finished 9-7 and in a three way tie for the last Wild Card spot but were the odd men out,did you guys get hosed!
Yeah we did get screwed. Our point differential is better than the Patriots and Broncos. We all shared the same conference record but some how we got eliminated. The league's officials know if we advance to the playoffs we're winning the Super Bowl! Maybe they're still upset that I left San Diego abruptly.
Matt,in all fairness, your Fins did lose both divisional games versus the Pats. Don't you think that had an impact?
Possibly! I don't know and truthfully I don't care. We're a better team than them,quote me!
Bailey, did you cost your team it's season by taking a leave of absence for two games, one of which resulted in a loss too New England?
What type of question is that? My interim coaches did a hell of a job in relief. We lost both of our starting running backs which limited us to a pass game primarily, which was already being closely scouted by everyone. Quit bringing up the Pats as if they're our bigger brother or something.
How satisfied are you with QB Kyle Orton's performance from this season?
I think Kyle did terrific. He took a lot of sacks and was continually pressured but made less mistakes.
Is Orton the starter for next season
He's the number one QB on our depth chart but it's too early to say. I'll evaluate things with my coaching staff and take it from there.
QB Dyjuan Dozier is the top prospect in the draft and could be available when your team selects. Are you attending his pro day and interested in making him a Fin?
There will be many teams at his pro day, even if were one of them it doesn't mean anything.
You have two 1st round picks in the top 10 and a 2nd rounder that's in the mid 40's overall. What's your draft strategy, who are you targeting?
We broadened our defensive playbook but could still use some help up front on that side of the ball. Other than that I can't reveal too much but were looking to make a big splash.
There's reports from St. Louis that you and the Rams owner have agreed to a deal where Miami would acquire QB Sam Bradford, could you comment?
Now,you're just stirring things up. I'm not even gonna speak on that.
How about the reports from Tennessee about the Titans heavily pursuing CB Sean Smith again, under new ownership this time?
Ha ha ha,you media people are funny. Sean is the best corner in the USSML. I think everybody would love to have a 6'3 pick machine. No comment on that either. One more question
With all the uncertainty surrounding your team's QB position and the fans impatience with this team becoming a winner, can we assume your job security is attached to Orton's performance?
My job security? Whoa, whoa whoa! Get this shit straight,I'm the fucking boss around here. I'll leave when I'm ready, nobody is going to run me up out of here, okay! Listen to me carefully and you can quote this in your headlines. The Miami Dolphins will advance to playoffs next season and will win the Super Bowl, that's a guarantee. I'm done for the evening, you all have a good night!
The Miami Herald's Sports section is conducting a poll on the Dolphins success for next season after Owner Bailey's bold prediction

| Lot of talent on that Miami team. Anything less than a Wild Card win may result in Bailey getting his ass fired lol. Why wasn't that a poll option? Jokes, jokes lol | |

psh. You funny man, you funny! I run this division! I love how loosely you say " I run the division " lol We finished with same record and Smash wasn't far behind at 8-8. Gonna take a stab at you, for a owner who runs the division you have nothing to show for it lol...You haven't repped the AFC East well in the playoffs...Miami will step up to the plate next season...BOO YA!
