Owner Matthew Bailey stayed true to his words when said he'd make a splash in the offseason. First he acquired one of the best QB's of all time in Peyton Manning. Then he swiped the 2nd overall pick in a trade with the Jets, drafting LB Darrin Duncan. After shoring up their secondary and offensive line, the Dolphins were set for the 2014 season. Perhaps the biggest surprise was Bailey's announcement that he has banned his @BaileysBlitz sports media corporation from covering his team and speaking with players because he wants his organization to focus on winning and winning only. Many writers and reporters were disappointed that they won't be able to produce any game reports. The football guru did notify the media members that he will give three press conferences during the season. One after eight games, one after they play their last regular season game and one after they win the Super Bowl as he predicted before the season opened

Although he got hurt making a tackle, we've been hearing there was a bounty on him and Peyton

Those bounties are going to mess up the league. Commish might start suspending folks if that doesnt get under control

PostSubject: Matthew Bailey's Mid Season Press Conference   Miami Dolphins (Season 4) : Road To The Super Bowl Icon_minitimeThu Apr 26, 2012 7:10 am

Here's the transcript from Matthew Bailey's Press Conference

Sorry for keeping you all waiting,I had to postpone our press conference because of the injury to WR Brandon Marshall. We needed time to prepare for the New York Jets, who've been hot in a crucial divisional battle. I'll open the floor up now for some questions

Reporter- Are you satisfied with your team's 5-4 record?

We hoped to add another perfect season to our franchises' history but we lost some close games. They were all against teams who are currently in the playoffs. One game over .500 isn't a safe cushion but were 3-0 in our division and that's a key factor to our post season aspirations.

Did you envision the Jets being atop the division this far into the season?

Owner/Coach Revis has worked hard to get his team to where they are now but we thought we'd be leading. I told my team coming out before the game that this was our season on the line and my player's responded

Peyton had another 4 INT game and sits at 24 on the year, what's your assessment of Manning's play so far?

Well the honeymoon is over hahaha, but he's been everything we expected. A leader, smart player with a big arm. We don't care about the numbers. He could have 100 picks, all that matters is the W's baby. Peyton started out slow because he was learning the offense but prior to our win over the Jets he had 13 TD's to 5 INT's over the last couple of outings. We've comprised as well and opened up to the Shotgun formation which Manning loves. Peyton's still close to a 90% QB rating and leads the league in passing yards.

How huge is the loss of Brandon Marshall?

(Sigh), Brandon.....this is tough to talk about,
Ummm Brandon....its fucking huge man! We've started 5 different QB's since I've been here and the one consistent thing is production from Marsh,he's our MVP. So many times he's bailed us out late. We've got some young talent in Ikeem Hardaway and Maurice Aker but its gonna take a total team effort on both sides of the ball to replace Marshall, especially on defense. Actually to be honest,I've challenged my players to step up and avenge Brandon's injury because we know he was targeted....somebody's got to pay!

WHOA,so are you saying that there was a bounty on Marsh and perhaps other Dolphin players?

Look all I'm saying is that, I know he was targeted! They caught him earlier with a tackle from the behind,a horse collar tackle which caused Brandon to fumble which is rare. I think he tried to play hurt so when he went for that tackle after the pick, he just aggravated the injury but I don't think if originated from that play but from the earlier fumbled one.

Who could we expect to replace Marshall and do you regret trading Sidney Rice now?

Sidney who? My corners shut him down and I don't regret that deal, believe me. The man we picked up at WR in exchange,Braylon Edwards is having a fabulous season and has been the best compliment at wideout to Marshall thus far. We think Bray could evolve into a Marshall type of player. He had a better game than Rice head to head too hahaha. Darrin Duncan was a steal in that trade, being able to select him 2nd overall. He's already a leader on defense. It's guys like that who are counting on the replace Brandon.

Speaking of defense, you guys give up a ton of yards through the air, tell us why is Sean Smith struggling?

Look,I'm going to be honest....Sean needs to man up okay. He's upset because in the off season we never extended his contract so he feels under paid. We have a team policy where we only resign our pending Free Agent players and that's not done during the regular season. He may be protesting with his play.

Well he did have an INT against the Jets..

Yea, his first in how many games now? At least four. That's not gonna cut it from me. I had to demote him to the 2nd corner on the depth chart to prove a point,so I guess he got my message!

What needs to be done In the second half of the season to secure a playoff berth?

I think we need to win out. We have some tough games but I believe we can go 7-0. Firstly we have to claim our division so beating the Bills,Pats & Jets in our final meetings are crucial. Also everybody knows about our potent pass game but we need to find a balance and incorporate a better rush attack to our offense. Daniel Thomas has ran for over 100 yards in three games this year so we know he's capable.

Every game there seems to be a player shaken up and there's been a number of man games lost,is this a result of poor conditioning!?

What!? What are you asking me???

umm, are you doing enough to keep your players in shape?

Shit what type of question is that? What do you think, we sit around all days eating chicken wings and drink beer?
Listen, football is a rough sport already but I'm sure you don't know anything about that because I doubt you've ever played the game at a competitive level. It doesn't help that guys are launching their bodies into you hoping to knock you out.

Zach Miller was consistent and an important piece in your offense, why trade him away?

Zach has heart,we love Zee Mills but Vernon Davis is the real deal. He's like a WR in a Tight End's body. He blocks effectively as well. With Peyton under center,we had to get Davis once we heard he hit the block. Also he wasn't that much more money. Jonathon Goff was an important part to that deal initially. He brings youth and aggression alongside Dansby and has fired up Karlos to the point where he's having his best season under my system, only 9 games into the year.

I'll take one more

Do you still consider your team to be legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl,if yes why?

Yes, of course it will be tougher to win it all with out Marshall but our team is built very deep personnel wise. At the end of the day, it takes all 11 players on the field to complete a mission. Were just gonna have to dedicate the rest of the season to Marsh.

Alright, I'll talk to you guys again before the playoffs. I've got film to watch.

There is a rumor that the press in South Florida is calling for your head. We would welcome your talents in Jacksonville as a coordinator or consultant if you need a place to land.
