Ok so I would like to thank Two10sbled for subbing and taking part in the craziest game I've ever been a part of. It was insane. Heres my blog/recap
(Coach's Thoughts) Its week 15 and my season is in the toilet. I can't seem to win back to back games, when we play well we always seem to lose out at the end. 4-9, this is not where I saw myself at this point in the beginning of the season. A total let down. I've made moves to build a team that fits my style but losing turner destroyed what already was a shaky season. Its over for me. Just win baby. Thats all i can do, no playoffs for me but I'd be damn if the Jags punch there ticket to the playoffs on my dime.
(Locker Room right before opening kickoff) Ok fellas, I let ya down..but understand this, we play for our pride! We go out there and win! We win for ourselves, no one else! Rumblings around the league is that we are a easy win, well i say bring it! We are the Atlanta Falcons! And if you come to play us you better come correct or we will smash you in your face! Lets do this boys! Lets go break some hearts and let some people down! DIRTY BIRD! DIRTY BIRD! DIRTY BIRD!
Game Recap-This game was totally insane, Two10sbled subbed for the jags and we always have crazy games but this topped them all. The Falcons jumped out to an early 9-0 lead on a sack safety and TD pass from Mccoy to Roddy. The jags quickly came back in the 1st to take the lead 10-9 on a TD run by MJD and a FG by the powerful legged Josh Scobee. ATL battled back early in the second to take a 1pt lead on another sack safety They scored 2 mins later on a TD pass to TE Tony Gonzalez that barely got through tight coverage. Jacksonville put up FG and a quick TD shortly after behind the powerful running of MJD. The Jags could of scored again on a late drive when a pass intended for TE marcedes Lewis was intercepted by Brandon Flowers. The 3rd quarter saw great Defense as both teams made necesary adjustments, Leading to QB Vince Young of the Jags to take a hard hit and be out the rest of the game.Coach Isacc saw this as a success but Rookie QB Gabbert soon made him regret that. The only scoring play came on an impressive 53yd FG by Josh Scobee. We went into the 4th quarter Jags up 20-18 and Falcons coach feeling like his team might be on the verge of another heart breaking loss. Still he knew he had no choice but to rally and play his best. And thats exactly what he did. 4th quarter started with a bang When Mccoy showed off why Coach Isacc thought so highly of him with and 83yrd bomb to reciever Harry Douglas up the middle. The throw was perfect right on time where Douglas needed to be. Douglas took off after that to score the TD with 4 Jags trailing right behind him. On the ensuing possession Rookie QB Gabbert had all the answers as he led the Jags offense down the field capped off by a ridiculous 35yd TD run by MJD in which he made CB Chris Culliver look like a total amateur with a juke move to break into open field. Jags Then got a little bit over confident and failed to convert on a 2pt play that would of put the jags up 3. With 4 minutes left in the game the Jags had a 26-25 lead and Coach Isacc's confidence was wavering. The Falcons took the ball at the 20 and tried to power run at the Jags defense, But with rookie RB Mikel Leshoure at the helm there was not much success so Coach Isacc decided to rely on Mccoy which at the time seemed like the right thing to do but turned out to be terrible for the Falcons. On 3rd and 6 Mccoy took the snap out of the Shotgun but quickly saw a tight cover 4 defense preventing his recievers from getting open so he took off. With 1 quick move he passed the first down marker but with a bit of room to run got greedy and pushed forward but took a big hit and fumbled the ball leaving the jags to recover it. With 3:53 the Jags had the ball in optimal field position/ Isacc was cursing himself for bieng greedy. But he knew he had to stop the run and played his defense one dimensional. The jags surprised by coming out with a run followed by 2 straight passes that were able to secure an important first down. With Isaccs confidence basically gone he knew it was now or never, and his defense answered the call making 3 staright stops to force a long FG. Scobee's kick was good but it left the Falcons with a 1:41 to drive down and possibly win the game. Jags up 29-25 1:41 to play..crunch time. Mccoy Takes the ball from the 20 and immediately connects to TE Gonzalez for 16yrds, they hurry to the line Mccoy thinks he sees a mismatch and quick snaps to get a pass out to roddy that was nearly intercepted, 2 and 10 Mccoy finds TE gonzalez again for a 29 yrd reception. They hurry to the line, the ball is snapped with 56 seconds. Mccoy puts it up for Gonzalez again but this time its batted down for an incomplete. 2nd and 10 53 seconds Mccoy throws a pass intended for WR Dwayne Bowe that was nearly intercepted. At this point Coach Isacc says its time for a lil trickery. 3rd and 10 he calls a what? a screen pass for rookie hb Jaquizz Rodgers but the Jags defense plays it well and it only gains a yrd. Isacc hurries his offense to the line to run a quick play on 4th down but after surveying the defense and his routes decides to use his final timeout. Here it is, either covert on 4th and 9 or take another loss. 28 seconds to play. Coach Isacc calls his play, he snaps the ball..he surveys the field??!! There nothing there..he sees the whole but is reluctant after his prior fumble, He decides its time..he scrambles forward he gets to the 1st down tags on 8 more and this time protects the ball and goes down at the 16yrd marker. time is running down with no timeouts, Mccoy gets up gets to the line a spikes the ball with 14 seconds to play. 2nd and 10 Mccoy knows its money time..snaps the ball finds roddy on an out route for a 6yd gain where he falls out of bounds. With 10 seconds to play and no timeouts Coach Isacc knows he needs to put it in the endzone now. He draws up his play. The crowd goes silent..he snaps the ball..surveys..to the right..tight coverage..nothing there..he rolls left a db is converging on him he looks up he sees doulas break to the left of the endzone he throws it up on the run..time stops..everything is in slow motion..the ball is spiraling towards the left corner..looks to be just out of the reach of douglas..he dives forward..he glides through the air like a majestic cheeta strides torward its prey. Douglas snatches the ball out of the air annd falls to the ground in...what? of yea he falls in the endzone for a TD pass with 4 seconds to play. The crowd goes wild. Coach Isacc jumps out of his chair. He screams, the madden gods have heard his prayers!!. He imagines the face his buddy two10sbled is making right now and thinks to himself this is a bit of payback for all the times you beat me this season. Then he realizes theres 4 seconds to play and knows two10sbled is very capable of a miracle. He has that much respect for him. Coach Isacc squibs it but a smart two10's was ready and dives forward giving himself 2 seconds to put 1 up. He calls his hailmary and of course Coach Isacc is full prepared for it with a 3 man deep set-up. The ball is snapped. DE Aldon smith breaks hard and fast on the right forcing QB Blaine Gabbert to step up into the pocket to make his deep throw but doesnt see hes stepping up right into DT Babineaux, and Babs brings him down for the sack and for the game. The stadium erupts. Coach Isacc reflects and maybe just maybe sheds a small tear..lol.
Post game locker room (i'll be quick i know i gave ya alot to read lol) My speech to the team- Guys you showed me something to day, you showed the league something today. Ive never been more proud of you guys then right now. We can and will win, and if any team thinks that ATL on there schedule is an easy W they have another thing coming. And if any team thinks they will clinch a playoff birth against us, they might as well book there vacation spots along side us cuz if were going home early..were goign to be bitter and bring them with us! DIRTY BIRD! DIRTY BIRD! DIRTY BIRDS!!!
