| Opening week is upon us, Falcons fans are excited for the season. Matt Ryan looks poised to take this team deep. 52 guys, all with the same goal. A playoff berth just isn't going to cut it. The offense looks poised to put up big numbers and Micheal Turner looks hungry to show he is still an elite back in this league. There defense is flying under the radar and that is just fine with the Falcons defensive coordinator who feels he has a top tier D that is capable of shutting down any offense. Only time will tell what this season has in store for the Falcons! | |

| Ok before I blog about my week 1 game I would like to thank Cobbs for stepping in as a sub. It was appreciated and I'd be glad to repay the favor if you ever need me to.

| In an epic week 1 game that saw 5 ties and 2 lead changes, the Falcons prevailed in what really was a dog fight. The Falcons went into Chicago and pulled out an impressive road win. Running back Micheal Turner took the game MVP honors with 19 carries for 204 yards to go along with an impressive 4TD's. The Falcons seemed to be flying across the field en route to causing 3 turnovers. Jay Cutler had a critical mistake with 21 seconds to go in the 4th when he lobbed up what looked to be a game tying touchdown to a wide open Jhonny Knox, but it was terribly underthrown and found the hands of defensive back Clive Owens for the INT. The Falcons are at home next week against the highly favored Philidelphia Eagles in what will be a highly publicized game with Micheal Vick making his return to Atlanta. | |

| In a move that looks solely for the future and to save money the Falcons traded DE John Abraham and CB Dunta Robinson to the San Francisco 49ers for ROLB/DE Aldon Smith, CB Chris Culliver and 2 draft picks in the upcoming draft, a 2nd and 4th. What does this move say to the fans about this year. The Falcons did start the year 1-0 and looked to have a deep roster without glaring holes. They were set to make a deep run but management feels they still can make a run. When asked about his team owner Isacc31 stated "yes this move is for the future, with the money we saved we were able to resign promising yound linebacker Curtis Lofton, however I still fill this is our year. I feel both Smith and Culliver will make instant impacts now and in the future. And we now have 6picks in the first 4 rounds of the draft, look for us to be a serious player now and for years into the future".

| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's the midway point of the season and it has definitley been a rollercoaster ride. The season hasn't gone totally as planned but everything is not for loss. The owner of the Falcons had this to say, "3-5 at the halfway mark is not necesarily ideal but the roster moves we made have me extremely confident going forward. I don't think we can afford another loss but if some things roll our way and some of our divisional opponents falter along the way we just might sneak into this race". He went on to say he has the utmost respect for all of his divisional oponents but knows a rivalry is a rivalry and on when that ball is kicked off there are no friends. It's kill or be killed so to speak. With Ryan gone, traded to the Browns after a terrible start, leading the league in interceptions by far, Young stud Colt Mccoy was brought in and given the reigns. He impressed many with his start with the Falcons throwing for 303 yards and 5td's on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. After the game Mcccoy was asked what he though about his start as the Falcons QB he said " Im just happy they thought that high of me the bring me in and say hey it's your team now go out there and do what we all know your capable of doing". He also credited rookie HB Jacquizz Rodgers for an excellent game filling in for the injured perennial all pro back Micheal Turner. Owner Isacc31 also said despite what this season, he sees alot of talent on his team for the future and in the draft and has big plans for draft day. I don't know what the future holds but were hungry and talented and will play hard every game. THE DIRTY BIRD IS BACK!!!

| Tough loss against division rival Saints all but ensures that the Falcons will be watching the playoffs from home. This for sure has been a tough season for me. I came in with extremely high expectations and seen them smashed underneath the feet of the toughest division in the ussml. In fact the whole NFC is filled with power houses where its looking like you'd need 12 wins to secure a wild card birth. Falcons ownership is extremely upset with this essentially being a lost season but expects his team to continue to play hard each and every down. We wont be a pushover, in fact we plan to be the team no team with playoff aspirations wants to see down the road. But again thats all we have to cling to this season. I guess next is where we will do some major damage. Now on to the game. It really was a heavyweight fight with both teams throwing haymakers. The saints were able to claw out a 14-3 lead at the half despite a torrid flurry of defensive manuevers by Isacc. This lead to a user pick by Kelvin Hayden and many run gap stops. Still Redeye stood firm to his running game and let Ingram fight for 2-5yd gains all game. The second half was Isacc's for the taking as he came out with a vengeance and made some key adjustments. Redeye scored early in the 3rd quarter and just when it seemed the Falcons were giving in a flurry of key plays led to 15 straight points pulling the Falcons within 3. A late FG by red gave the saints a 6pt lead with just under a minute to play. I was confident in my ability to drive down, especially after an errant kickoff that gave us the ball on our 40. First play of that drive was a screen that gained us a big chunk of yards. The following play gained us 8 more and with time stopped it looked like we would pull this out, dont count ur ducks before they hatch. 3 boneheaded mistakes later, 1 a screen gone wrong, 2 spike the ball when i clearly should of hurried the offense giving myself 2 plays to get a 1st down instead of 1, and finally a horrible misread of the defense leading to a pass deflection to close out anychance i had of winning. The saints played well but i def feel like i gave it away. Ill see them again with a chance to possibly end there playoff hopes. Lets do this. | |
