| Sun Life Stadium- Miami, Florida Week 1: Colts at Fins Miami opened their season and three game home stand with a 31-24 win over the Colts, in a great debut for a bunch of new Dolphins players.
Daniel Thomas beat out Reggie Bush for the starting Running Back gig and didn't disappoint in the season opener. On a night when Tight End Zach Miller left the game early to an injury and Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall was held to 1 reception, it was Thomas who carried the Fins offense on his back. DT33 rushed for just under 100 yards while Bush cleaned up punching in both Miami offensive touchdowns. A couple of new Fin secondary players made their presence felt on the defensive end of the field. Newly acquired Cornerback Jonathon Joseph snatched two Peyton Manning passes, one of which was returned for 6. Sophomore Strong Safety Javien Reese was a menace, leading the charge which helped the Dolphins hold the Colts to 0 rushing yards. Usual suspects Pro Bowl Corner Sean Smith and Middle Lineback Karlos Dansby also picked off Manning, Dansby brought his interception back for another 6.
Miami welcomes their rivals the New England Patriots in their next game, looking to get a head start on the division lead. The Pats dropped it's season opener to the Chiefs.

| Sun Life Stadium- Miami,Florida Week 2: Pats at Fins
It may be a new season but sophomore Safety Jonny Kohlhausen never forgot how he was drafted and the abruptly traded from Miami after one game. The man nicknamed " JFK " made his return to South Beach and punished his former teammates. Kohlhausen led an aggressive Patriots defense with two forced fumbles (one of which was returned for 6 points) and a sack in New England's 41-35 victory. DeVonte Dickerson showed why he won Defensive Rookie of the year honors last season, shutting down HB's Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush while registering a forced fumble himself. He also ran another forced fumble back but it was negated due to a holding call. The Fins stormed back after trailing by as many as 24 points in the first half via the dymanic duo of Brandon Marshall and Kyle Orton. After just catching one pass for 9 yards last week, Marsh caught a season high 7 receptions for 216 yards and a touchdown. Orton was stellar posting a 155 QB rating, hitting all but 5 targets. Miami seemed to have forced a turnover with under 2 minutes left but a booth review over turned Nyjee Dyer's fumble. From there the Pats ran out the clock after Miami didn't have enough timeouts to prolong the game. The win was costly as Fins safety Javien Reese injured tight end Jamie Brooks, who'll miss the next 4 weeks for the Pats. Speaking of injuries, tight end Zach Miller returned for Miami not missing a beat. Miller caught 6 passes on over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown Both teams sit atop the AFC East with Miami hosting the Rams next week in the final of a 3 game home stand and New England on a bye.

| Sun Life Stadium- Miami,Florida Week 3: Rams at Fins
The Dolphins concluded their 3 game home stand with a decisive 24-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams. Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall said after last week's lost to the Patriots that he didn't want to grab over 200 yards anymore doing it on his own and quote " I need more help out here ". Football guru Owner Matthew Bailey responded by acquiring Receiver Sidney Rice from the Detroit Lions and Rice didn't disappoint playing the Robin role to Batman. He caught Miami's second touchdown on a 25 yard streak route from Kyle Orton, his only reception of the game. Orton had another MVP performance connecting on all but 5 targets for over 200 yards passing. He still hasn't thrown an interception all season after throwing 26 in the previous campaign. Tight End Zach Miller also took Marshall's comments personal. He picked up the offensive slack registering 6 receptions on 145 yards including a 77 yard catch and run touchdown. The Fins version of the Big 3 also had a huge game. Running Backs Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Full Back Daquan Armstrong combined for over 130 rushing yards, a touchdown and at least a half a dozen first downs. They were also the main reason why Miami held possession for over 20 minutes in the game. Another reason was the defense, which has been treacherous of late. Big Vince Wil "Pitch" Fork lead the charge shutting down the run and found Bradford's behind for a sack. Newly acquired Cornerback and Strong Safety Javien Reese made their mark. The duo recorded an interception and sack respectively. Next up, the Orange and Teal travel to Music City to play the Tennessee Titans who are coming off an upset win over defending AFC champions the Jacksonville Jaguars.

| Nashville, Tennessee Week 4: Fins at Titans
The legendary John Madden once said " great players, make great plays !" and for the Miami Dolphins that's what happened in their 28-21 victory over Tennessee. After going scoreless in the 1st half of it's first road game of the season, the Fins found themselves down late after trading touchdowns with the Titans. Kicker Rod Bironas had a chance to put the game out of reach with just under 2 minutes left but missed a 43 yard FG that would've put Tennessee up 10. Kyle Orton responded by leading a drive that concluded with a 17 yard game tying receiving TD by Reggie Bush, who lost a fumble on the 2 yard line earlier in the game. Now it was the Fins defense time to step up and did they ever. First a bat down, then team sack leader Left End Kendall Langford rushed QB Alex Smith and dropped him on the Titans 1 yard line. Miami would get the ball in good field position after forcing a 3rd and long then Punt with under a minute left. Brandon Marshall (who had 5 last minute or clock expiring TD's last season) ran a slick route which caused Titans Cornerback Courtland Finnegan to slip and caught the game winning 42 yard touchdown to put the Fins up for good. That was Marshall's third trip to the end and finished with 142 yards catching. Orton threw his first interceptions of the year but still managed to produce a solid 15/25, 303 passing yards and 4 touchdown performance. The Fins continue their three game road swing with a stop in the Bay Area to play the Raiders in a rematch of that playoff play in game from week 17 last season before visiting the 49ers. Miami's off to their best start in three season under Football Guru Matthew bailey at 3-1.

| Oakland, California Week 5: Fins at Raiders
The Dolphins entered Oakland Coliseum with one thing on their mind," Payback " after being eliminated from playoff contention by the Raiders in the very same building in Week 17 of last season. Miami's pro football team would get revenge in a tough 24-17 victory in another tough road game.
Leading the charge was QB Kyle Orton who was firing on all cylinders to say the least. Orton played his best game under Guru Matthew Bailey's offense completing 86 percent of his passes connecting on 18 of 21 targets for an impressive QB rating of 150. Orton finished with over 300 passing yards, a pair of touchdown's and no interceptions. Brandon Marshall rebounded after a rare occurrence on the team's first drive where he fumbled for a loss after a catch in the red zone. Marshall bounced back however hauling in a touchdown on 7 receptions for 120 yards. Zach Miller was clutch as well catching 6 passes and Sidney Rice caught the eventual game winning touchdown in his 3rd game with the team. Another story line with the Dolphins is the defense who's quickly getting a reputation for being ferocious. The league's second best run stopping unit held RB Darren McFadden to 17 yards and the whole team under 50. Oakland was attempting to rally late down 7 but the league's leading pick man CB Sean Smith intercepted a pass intended for Jacoby Ford to seal the victory.
Miami will continue it's tour of the Bay Area as they conclude the final game of their road trip against the San Francisco 49ers. This game has been highly anticipated as it features the top offense versus the top defense from the last season. The Fins are 4-1 enjoying their best start under Owner Bailey while the 9ers are off to a disappointing start, currently 1-1-1 with a game in Buffalo on deck before hosting Miami.

| San Francisco, California Week 6: Fins at 49ers
Coming into this highly anticipated match up, the Miami Dolphins ranked second in total rushing yards allowed per game. Apparently somebody forgot to pass along the memo to the league's top Rusher 49ers RB Chris Johnson. After a slow first half , CJ2k possibly 3k after season's end, exploded on the ground in San Fran's narrow 27-21 victory over Miami. Johnson carried the ball 31 times but gained nearly 220 yards on the day with a pair of touchdowns. The 9ers top defense showed exactly why they've earned that title. They frustrated the league's highest rated pivot QB Kyle Orton all game, forcing the Fins QB to throw 3 interceptions, while completing less than 50% of his passes. Things weren't always going San Frans way however. Late in the third quarter MLB Karlos Dansby picked off a Jay Cutler pass and returned it 98 yards for the score putting the Fins up by 4. After a 9ers 3 and out Miami had a chance to add to the lead but turned it over, resulting in a touchdown which caused a huge momentum swing for San Fran. The Fins scored late after WR Brandon Marshall caught a deep ball in double coverage followed by a RB Reggie Bush touchdown. However a failed onside recovery clinched Miami's second loss of the season as the 9ers ran out the clock. The Fins will be scored board watching with their week off still alive in the playoff hunt as they prepare for another defensive Juggernaut in the Pittsburgh Steelers, at home in week 8

| Subject: Week 7 thru 9 updates Thu Mar 01, 2012 3:52 pm | |
| Miami, Florida Week 7: Bye
The Miami Dolphins had the week off but were still active off the field. They acquired young MLB prospect Colin McCarthy from the Chicago Bears for their 1st round pick. McCarthy is expected to anchor the linebacker core as current Captain Karlos Dansby is getting older and. Still pricey. The former bear returns to Miami where he played University ball so he'll feel right at home. To make room for McCarthy, the Fins released MLB Jared Morgan who started and played well at times last season. With Dansby,Foote,Brackett and now McCarthy there was too much depth at that position to keep Morgan. Its not known if McCarthy will start versus the Steelers but he's anxious to join the vigorus Dolphin defense unit.
Football Guru Matthew Bailey also announced that he'll be on an indefinite leave for personal reasons for at least two games.
Miami, Florida Week 8: Steelers at Fins
The Fins played their first game without coach Bailey and his absence really effected their play. Pittsburgh topped Miami 31-21 after two big plays put the nail in the Fins coffin. An Ike Taylor pick 6 in the first half and Rashard Mendenhall 81 yard to open the second half was the difference. Injuries were added to insult after Miami not 1 but 2 running backs in Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas who will both miss multiple games. Newly acquired MLB Colin McCarthy had a stellar debut in the Fins lone bright spot. The product of the U had 6 tackles to lead Miami. HB Darren Evans in will start in the backfield next week versus the Pats in Foxboro
Gillette Stadium (Foxboro) Week 9: Fins at Pats
Even with an interim head coach and the absence of owner Matthew Bailey, the bloody rivalry with the Fins and Pats continued. Unfortunately for Miami the game ended with a similar result to their Week 2 showdown. Again the Fins rallied from behind but in a case of "too little ,too late" losing 34-31. Also another story line is former Bailey pick SS Jonny Kohlhausen continuing to punish the team that dealt him after 2 games. JFK had one of three interceptions of Kyle Orton on the night but returned his for 6. The sophomore also forced a fumble that would later result in points. HB Darren Evans started his first game replacing Bush and Thomas but was ineffective. Much of Miami's offenseive load was carried by the twin towers Marsh and Rice who combined for 2 touchdowns, 13 receptions on nearly 300 receiving yards. MLB Karlos had another pick 6,his third of the season but Colin McCarthy had a silent game with just 2 tackles in his second appearance with the Fins. A Pats/Fins game wouldn't be a game without an injury, last time it was Pats TE Jamie Brooks who got hurt for 5 weeks, now it was LB Devonte Dickerson who got hurt in the battle and will miss the next 5 weeks himself.
Guru Matthew Bailey has returned to Dolphins facilities and left this brief statement " its unfortunate that we lost both games and our top rushers but were still .500 and in the playoff hunt. Were going to get back on the right track "!

| Orchard Park, New York (Ralph Wilson Stadium) Week 10: Fins at Bills
Owner Matthew Bailey made his return to the Dolphins sidelines but that made no difference, the Bills slaughtered the Fins 24-12. Buffalo's defense pressured Kyle Orton all game forcing 10 sacks on Miami's pivot led by rookie LB Brennan Bates who racked up 4 personally. When Orton's behind managed to avoid the turf he was getting hurried, which led to 2 interceptions. On the offensive side on the ball, the Bills were held in check through the air but that never mattered because C.J. Spiller rushed for over 150 yards and a pair of touchdown's. Miami's offense was rusty under their coach's play strategy. They didn't score a touchdown from a drive started in their half of the field. The Fins brought back former Running Back Ronnie Brown to replace Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas and he was the load bright spot for the Dolphins. He punched in the team's only touchdown after the Bills punt returner muffed the return catch inside his team's own 20. Sitting one game out of a playoff spot, one game under .500 the Fins travel to Arizona to battle another team who started out hot but currently struggling in the 2-6 Cardinals.

| University of Phoenix Stadium, Arizona Week 11: Fins at Cardinals
What started out as a promising season has rapidly turned into a downward spiral. The Miami Dolphins suffered another setback to their playoff hopes after losing 24-17 to the Arizona Cardinals. The Fins played catch up the whole game after the Cards scored the game's first points and eventually Miami ran out of time to complete a comeback. The key to this game was turnovers. Kyle Orton threw an interception in the red zone and running back Daniel Thomas fumbled on a key drive to opened up the second half which halted the Fins attempts to knot the score. Miami would eventually tie it up,but Kevin Kolb found Lee Evans late in the 4th to put Arizona ahead for good. With the season slipping away and little to no time to analyze what has gone wrong so quickly, coach Bailey must entering panic and desperation mode trying to solve opposing defenses who've cracked down on Brandon Marshall and Zach Miller's high offensive productivity. Next week the Fins conclude their four game road stretch with a stop in New York to play the winless Jets. Tuna fans have began to become impatient with this teams success and one has to wonder, if Miami loses to their lowly divisional rivals could coach Bailey be on his way out of South Beach?

| East Rutherford, New Jersey Week 12: Fins at Jets
With their season essentially on the line, not even a blizzard of snow could stop the Dolphins in a 21-7 romp over the Jets. QB Kyle Orton rebounded from a couple of poor outings with a near flawless performance. The Fins pivot needed just seven completions out of nine attempts to propel Miami to its fifth victory of the season. Orton would finish with a QB rating of 155 and touchdown on 177 passing yards. The bulk of Miami's offense was carried by the run game. RB Daniel Thomas and FB Daquan Armstrong combined for well over 100 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. The defense had one of its best efforts of the season led by All Pro CB Sean Smith who snagged his league leading 8th interception.
The Fins wrapped up their four game road swing on a high note with the win and return home where they'll host four of their finals five games. Miami's 5-6 remaining one game out of a wild card spot and two and a half back of the division leading New England Patriots.

| Miami, Florida (Sun Life Stadium) Week 13: Jags at Fins
The Dolphins returned home from a four game road swing for the first of four must win games to conclude the season. Let's just say if this match up was a boxing fight it would be compared to a Mike Tyson scrap from his earlier days in the 80's. The game was over before it barely started after SS Courtney Greene forced a fumble on Jacksonville's first play which was returned by Vince " Pitch" Wilfork for a touchdown,8 seconds in. The Jags would only muster up a pair of field goals throughout the game in Miami's 31-6 drubbing of their Florida state rivals. The Fins defense was on fire as FS Earl Thomas and CB Terrence McGee both returned interceptions for 6 to total three touchdowns for the defense on the night.
Miami's has only allowed one touchdown in the last eight quarters and post a .500 record, trailing the Steelers by one game for the final Wild Card playoff spot, while remaining tied with the Denver Broncos. Next up, division foes the New York Jets take their talents to South Beach but have lost three straight to the Dolphins.

| Miami,Florida (Sun Life Stadium) Week 14: Jets at Fins
The Final score may suggest that this game was close but in reality it was a lopsided affair. The Dolphins bullied their division rivals the Jets 38-23 for their third straight victory. Miami jumped out to a 31 nothing lead before halftime behind a pair of Kyle Orton touchdown passes and defensive TD's from Cameron Wake's pick six and Karlos Dansby's fumble return. Dansby is making a case for defensive player of the year after recording his fourth touchdown of the season, leading all defensive players. Speaking of leaders, Sean Smith caught his ninth interception which put him back in a share of the lead for the most. Vince Wilfork also had a monster game with 5 tackles and registered three straight sacks on one drive in the fourth quarter. Miami's defense gave up a few points late but overall have been playing solid over the last few games.
Miami received some help after the 9ers edged the Patriots and the Giants pummeled the Steelers. The Fins are now 7-6, one game behind New England for the division lead and tied with Pittsburgh for the final Wild Card spot. The road to the playoffs get more difficult in their last three games however. The Texans were a playoff team last season and inevitably bounded for another post season berth. Buffalo has already beat Miami this year and another meeting with a playoff team from last year in the Seahawks, closes out the season

| Houston, Texas (Reliant Stadium) Week 15: Fins at Texans
With a great opportunity to climb the rankings in the AFC standings the Dolphins laid an absolute dud in their embarrassing 55-22 loss to the Texans. Houston was getting it done on both sides of the field. Matt Schaub bombed the Fins for over 300 yards, 5 touchdowns on just 10 completions, while his counter part Kyle Orton threw 5 interceptions trying to keep up with the Texans pivot. Houston's rowdy defense added 10 sacks on Orton and one defensive score.
A playoff spot is still in reach for the Dolphins but will need to win out and get help if they hope to secure their first post season berth under coach Matthew Bailey

| Miami, Florida (Sun Life Stadium) Week 16: Bills at Fins
It was a win or go home between the Bills and Dolphins. Both teams were 7-7 needing a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. Buffalo opened the scoring and from there Miami would trade points with it's division rival. Ex Fin Christian Ponder was looking to stick it to his former team leading a drive down by 3 in the fourth. Ponder tossed a pass towards Rob Gronkowski near half field but was intercepted for 6 by Dolphin FS Earl Thomas. After the teams traded 3 & out possessions Leodis McKelvin muffed a Bills punt return which was returned by special teamer Zachary Anderson. The Dolphins ended up pouring 21 points en route to a 38-21 victory. Miami is known for its passing attack but none of their points came through the air. The Dolphins are also guaranteed at least a .500 record for the second straight season.
Now Miami will shift its focus to week 17 where they host the Seahawks with playoff contention on the line for both teams.. The Dolphins need a win and a Denver or Jacksonville loss in their week 17 games to adavance to the post season.

| Miami, Florida (Sun Life Stadium) Week 17: Seahawks at Fins
The Dolphins finished on a high note after thumping Seattle 21-14. RB Daniel Thomas led Miami's offensive attack running for just under 200 yards on a dozen carries. Other highlights from the game included CB Sean Smith grabbing his career and league best interception. All this was done in vain because the Fins found out they were eliminated from playoff contention after the game. Coach Bailey's team finishes 9-7 for the second straight year and the Football guru is 25-21 in three seasons with Miami. The Dolphins attention will shift towards the draft now where they have multiple picks in the top 50.
